Christmas Dinner 2013

Dinner2The Club enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Dinner Meeting at the Ulster Reform Club Monday night 16 December 2013.

67 members and guests, this year with some Inner Wheel members present, enjoyed this splendid evening of warm fellowship. Following an excellent buffet dinner the 20 ballot prizes were drawn by VP Claire Savage and then PP Maurice Brooks, ably supported by Hon. Treasurer Ivan McMinn, auctioned 5 lots: 2 Antler suitcases, Single Malt Scotch Whiskey, Luxury Hastings Hamper and Meal for 2 with wine at the Ulster Reform Club.

Thanks to the generosity of those there, the evening raised an fabulous £700 which will be split between ShelterBox and SOSBus.

Celebrating with Dublin Club

TheGatheringDublin Bond16 members President Ken and Gilly, PE Ronnie McLean, VP Claire Savage, PP Albert & Mabel Baird, PP Derek Baxter, PP David & Jenny Boyd, PP Bryan Byers, PP Bryan Ferguson, Hilary Gault, John McCleery, Billy McCoubrey, PP Alan Rundle, Ronnie Porter, Ken Taylor, Chris Warnock and Denis Wilson visited the Dublin Club for their special Aston Martin 100th and James Bond 50th lunch at the Grand Canal Hotel Monday 25 November 2013. Several Dublin Club members' Aston Martin cars were on display in the forecourt which were greatly admired before moving into lunch preceded by a Martini cocktail.

District Conference 2013

GroupPresident Ken led a party of 20 members and partners at the District Conference in Dublin 27-29 September at the historic Clontarf Castle Hotel. We were delighted Rotaractor Laura Garland joined us. It was a great weekend of Conference business but most of all good fellowship.

Off to a Flying Start!

Charity BBQ 1Opening this year's social programme, around 90 members, partners, friends and family (including grandchildren) spent a most enjoyable afternoon of fun and fellowship, on Sunday 8 September at Ronnie and Elma Porter's Farm. We were particularly delighted that members of the Rotary Clubs of Donaghadee and Belfast East and the Rotaract and Inner Wheel Belfast Clubs joined us.

The weather held and all thoroughly enjoyed the succulent gammon barbecued by 'master-BBQ-chef' Past President Brian Clements, aided by his wife Rosie.

President's Day and Handover 2013

RBGCGeneralShotPresident Alan concluded his year by holding by his President's Day on 1st July at the Royal Belfast Golf Club. Always an exceptional event in the Club calendar and this year's proved to continue that tradition being greatly enjoyed by all. The Handover to President Ken took place after the dinner.

President Alan joined for a few holes of golf with those members who played the course in the afternoon. The evening dinner was attended by 70 members and partners and President Alan was delighted to welcome Rotaractors Laura and Joseph and thanked them for the special 'Welcome President Ken and Thank You President Alan' Balloons!
