Scholar 2026/27

The club is delighted to welcome this year's Rotary Global Scholar Abagail Austin sponsored by the RC Grand Rapids, Michigan. She will be studying for a Masters Degree in Conflict Resolution at QUB and is pictured with President Heather at her first visit to the Club Monday 21 September.

During her well-illustrated, highly impressive, passionate and articulate address she noted she was delighted to be here, honoured to have this opportunity through the Rotary Global Scholarship and is looking forward to learning and seeing where it takes her. She highlighted her areas of focus in her undergrad and now master’s degree in Conflict Resolution are dialogue across differences, civil discourse, universal values and morality, truth, certainty, and polarisation, education and empathy and interfaith dialogue. She revealed that alongside her master’s degree in Conflict Resolution she will be undertaking a service project working with local mediators and community leaders and will visit integrated schools. On completion of her master’s she hopes to travel around Ireland and the UK perhaps even further afield!

We wish her well with her studies and look forward to welcoming here during the year.
