Rotary Club of Belfast

Joint Club Visit to Dublin

Dublin 25.1Club Members had a most enjoyable, entertaining and informative day with members of the Rotary Clubs of Lisburn and Newry on a day trip to Dublin. Having travelled down by train the group visited the National Museum of Ireland, Kildare Street, architecturally beautiful it contains artifacts from prehistoric Ireland and we were treated to detailed explanations by Lisburn Rotarian Henry McNally of many of them including Iron and Bronze Age objects such as axe heads, swords and stunning gold jewellery, with the earliest dated to c. 7000 BC. The Club party consisted of President Elect Heather and Christopher Shiell, Past President (PP) Brian Clements, PP Maurice and Hillary Brooks and Hon. Sec David and Jenny Boyd. After lunch in a nearby Italian restaurant some went shopping and some to reminisce in the Lincon Inn before strolling back to the station through the grounds of Trinity College and the 18.50 train home.
