Rotary Club of Belfast

The Rotary Foundation

The Rotary Foundation, Rotary's own charity, is a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and Friends of the Foundation; it has the largest and most prestigious privately-funded international fellowship & scholarship programs in the world. Since 1917, Rotary's Foundation has spent more than $3.7 billion helping people and communities.

Its mission is to support the efforts of Rotary International enabling Rotarians achieve international understanding, goodwill, and peace through international humanitarian, education and cultural exchange programmes.

Every dollar contributed to the Foundation funds its support of programs implemented by clubs and districts and its global polio eradication activities.

Club Involvement in Foundation

The Rotary Club of Belfast has provided generous financial support for Foundation particularly in the drive to eradicate Polio world wide and has supported its scholarship and exchange programmes as detailed on this website. This has been recognised at District and International levels with many awards - (see here) and the Club is honoured to have received these awards on behalf of all the members and thanks all members for their commitment .

Polio Eradication

Polio Eradication is Rotary's top priority and Rotary is committed to fighting Polio until every child is safe from this devastating disease. The Foundation's Polo Plus programme provides funding for mass immunisation campaigns as well as support for social mobilisation, surveillance and laboratories to help carry out the final stages of global polio eradication. Since 1985 Rotary members have contributed more than $900m and countless volunteer hours. The world now stands on the threshold of eradicating the disease.
