Rotary Club of Belfast

Hillsborough Garden Visit

IMG 6610Several members of the Club had a most enjoyable visit to the award winning garden of Old Barrack House, Hillsborough on a special Club Open morning Friday 30 June. On a lovely, if chilly, morning they had a talk on the history of the house and its restoration before exploring the gardens.

Owners Ken & Dawn McEntee have refurbished what was a dilapidated house and the gardens over 20 years creating in essence a secret garden, a charming collection of pebbled terraces and garden rooms that keep you guessing as you move from area to area. Not overly groomed plants have been chosen for height, form, colour of leaf and flowers in relation to the ambience of each area. This great visit concluded with coffee and cream scones etc.
