Rotary Club of Belfast

District Conference 2025

D Conf.Awards 25The Club was delighted to attend the District Conference held in the Royal Court Hotel Friday-Sunday 26-28 September with 5 members joining President Heather. Extremely well organised by the Ballymoney Club it was well very attended and an excellent weekend of the usual formal and informal gatherings. Excellent speakers covered a most interesting and wide range of topics blending Rotary and non - Rotary themes, humorous and serious.

A few included:

  • the session on Seeds of Hope where Immediate Past President Ken talked to recent speaker Adam Linton and Dublin Rotary Club Immediate Past President Delma Sweeney, Adam again speaking very impressively about the impact on him of the Programme
  • a discussion with 2 Youth Leadership Competition candidates who spoke about their experiences of the interview process, the visit to Strasburg (this year and 10 years ago) and the impact on them and
  • an extremely well received address by Lord Alderdice on "Conflict, complexity and cooperation"

D Conf.1 25The Club was particularly honoured to receive the Cecil Whaley Award for District Outstanding Community Project - Seeds of Hope and the District Governor Citation Certificate for achieving 10 of his 12 targets for 2024-25. which were presented by District Governor Michael Fleming to President Heather, Immediate Past President Ken and for Seeds of Hope to Rotary Club of Dublin's Immediate Past President Delma Sweeney and Eamonn Allen

The members there were enriched by the whole experience and the Club is looking forward to attending next year's Conference which will be held in Cork.
