Crumlin Children's Hospital Refurbished Rooms Opened

IMG 2177President Elect Rosemary (then as President Elect) and Past President Maurice Brooks represented the Club at the official opening of the refurbished Parents' Accommodation Unit at the Children's Hospital Dublin on 24 June. The Club sponsored 1 bedroom for the Rotary Ireland "Be a Gift to Crumlin" Appeal to refurbish the 55 bedrooms used by parents of seriously ill children undergoing prolonged cardiac treatment in the hospital. The rooms have been designated to participating Rotary clubs and there is a piece of art in each room with the name of the sponsoring club inscribed in the frame.

IMG 2182The appeal was instigated by Rotarian Daniel O'Reilly from the Monaghan Club whose baby son required a serious heart operation a few years ago. He spoke to the Club in a heart-felt address in May 2016 and both he and his son were present at the opening. Photo shows President Rosemary and PP Maurice giving a “thumbs up” with Daithi (Irish for David) and Daniel. President Rosemary reflects that it was "a very moving event realising how so little effort on our part can help so many parents and indirectly their children."
