Rotary Club of Belfast

Club Walk

1 walk 24.09.25The 1st Club Walk was held on Wednesday 24 September and was greatly enjoyed by 17 including President Heather with her mother Margaret and brother Raymond, Derek & Jenny Baxter, Maurice & Hilary Brooks, Brian & Rosie Clements, Trevor & Judy Hinds, CT Hogg, Marnette Lyons and Alan Rundle with his sister Jane. All enjoyed gently walking along the really smooth (and unexpectedly spongy!) track - though not everyone walked or walked the same route and the chat was so good they lost count how many times they went around it! President Heather was also delighted to welcome Moira Wright, Lisburn RC. The morning was suitably rounded off by a lunch of soup and wheaten bread in the cafe across the road in Dixon Park.

The Club initiated this series of 4 weekly gentle walks around the Mary Peters Track from the realisation that young and fit people enjoy participating in community events like Fun Runs, while those who are less able often find themselves unable to and the Mary Peters track offers a safe, easily accessible and extendable walk - with access to the river walk close by.
