At the meeting of the Conveners of the Rotary Club of Belfast in the Raddisson Hotel on Thursday night, the Club was honored by a visit from the Hon Seth Kwame Acheampong, MP of the Mpraeso Constituency in the Ghana Parliament in Accra.
Rotarian Seth, a member of the Commonwealth working party on Conflict Resolution, was visiting the Northern Ireland Assembly at Stormont as a quest of our Speaker. He excused himself from the evening session and took a taxi to attend the meeting of the Rotary Club of Belfast before heading back to Stormont for an official dinner.
Rotarian Seth is a relative new member of Rotary having until two years ago been an active Rotaractor before coming a founder member of the Accra Ridge Club. He presented the Belfast Club with a bannerette of the Accra Ridge Club and left with the bannerette of the UK No1 Club and a copy of our recent DVD.
Why did he choose to come to the Belfast club?
Before leaving Accra he had promised his President that he would definitely visit a Rotary club in the UK during his visit, he checked out the relevant Web sites and the dates on his itinerary; he saw that the Rotary Club of Belfast held an additional club meeting for Committees on Thursday evenings in the Raddisson Hotel and decided to attend!
