Rotary Club of Belfast

More for Business

Alastair Hamilton Makes PresentationSpeaker Alastair Hamilton, CEO Invest NI, gave a most interesting, informative and upbeat message to the Club Monday 23 May about NI economic improvement and future prospects. He highlighted that as the Regional Development Agency Invest NI's role is to grow the local economy by encouraging foreign investment, supporting indigenous existing companies and acting as an agency for the Government by delivering the Government's economic development strategies. Their aim is to create not just new jobs but better quality jobs in a better overall economy with a much larger private sector by providing services, programmes, support and expert advice.

He pointed out that Belfast was also voted the world's most business friendly small/medium city and this is reflected in the fact that our best ever record of 9,500 jobs were created last year; underlining that there are over 80,000 manufacturing jobs in the province and a number of particularly successful companies. He concluded that Invest NI is optimistic about the future. There was a good question and answer session following his presentation and he also showed the video left which is their new television advert briefly showing how Northern Ireland offers altogether more for business with the right combination of talent, value and tax.
