District 5050 Governor Wayne Wiebe, through them, extended greetings and thanks to District 1160 Rotarians for their generous hospitality to the Team and is looking forward to hosting our District team to their two-country District next spring. GSE is a great opportunity to be Bridging Communities-Bridging Continents together.

Rotary District 5050 is one of the international districts in Rotary International honoured to represent both America and Canada. With 57 clubs and about 3,000 members it stretches from Mukilto, Washington, USA to the Fraser Valley in lower British Columbia, Canada. It spans approx. 150 sq. miles, including a number of islands and is dotted with stunning lakes, rivers and Puget Sound beaches. It sits between Puget Sound to the west, the Cascade Mountain range to the east and is bounded by Seattle, WA to the south and Vancouver to the north.

2009 Exchange

The 2009 Group Study Exchange team from the District went to Colorado, USA. Much to our delight two team members were Club nominees. Both from the PSNI, they were Chartered Management Accountant Graeme Moore and Detective Inspector Neill McGuiness.

The GSE team to visit Ireland that year were 5 students from Japan District 2690. During their visit to The Rotary Club of Belfast on the 5th October they were received by the Lord Mayor, Councillor Naomi Long. They also attended the Rotary Club Lunch Meeting and exchanged banners. Also at the lunch was Past DG Paul Hutchinson (3rd left) Ambassadorial Scholar Boran Zic (2nd left) and their interpreter (left).
