The Importance of Making a Will

PresRosemaryAndMichaelMichael Graham, Cleaver Fulton Rankin’s Head of their Private Client Department which specialises in Wills & Trusts and Estate Administration spoke to the Club Monday 12 February, at very short notice, about the importance of financial planning with wills. His informative and interesting talk was very well received by members.

He stressed that making a will is one of the most important things you can do as it eliminates the risk of division of assets after death not being carried out according to your wishes and that wills are essential particularly where there are adults and children dependants who have to be provided for. In this context he recommended the consideration of: family circumstances and possibilities of any change in them; making use of Trusts; long term financial planning; obtaining Enduring Powers of Attorney early; planning for nursing care and the benefits of maintaining regular contact with legal and financial professional advisors.
