Joy in Doing Good for Others

Group Photo2District Foundation’s Chair Dave Murray address to the Club Monday 11 February was an excellent clarification of the Rotary Foundation’s work to the Club Monday 11 February. He advised that The Rotary Foundation enables Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty with monies from Annual and Polio Funds contributed to by all Rotarians. Endowment Fund Investment Income is added to the Annual Fund which, through Global and District Grants, provides the funding required for major global programmes by Districts and Rotary Clubs as well as a wide range of national, international and local community projects. The Polio Funds are separate and go to End Polio Now. He particularly congratulated the Club on being one of only seven District clubs who consistently meet their targets for Foundation and Polio. He concluded his well-received address by quoting founder Arch Klump: We should not live for ourselves alone, but for the joy in doing good for others (1929).
