Rotary Club of Belfast

Everyone needs an Everest

PeterJackRecountsIronManChallengePeter Jack, Solicitor and Limavady Rotarian, gave an outstanding, very passionate and most interesting "Everyone should have an Everest" address to the Club Monday 17 September outlining in detail his 16th - and last - Ironman Challenge in Almere in Holland in was the usual format of a 3.8k swim, 180k bike ride and a 42k run!

He was raising money for the Charity Mercy Ships whose volunteers perform many life-saving medical operations around the Ports of Africa and hoped the Club would support it. His description of the race was as exhausting as it was exhilarating. He had to cope with very cold water and brisk winds and even an argument with a car bonnet but made it to the finishing line to be met by his family who had 'fed and watered him' throughout. It was, he noted, indeed 'show time for the last time' on the Ironman scene but knowing Peter Jack there will be other challenges with Rotary Charities the beneficiaries.
