Rotary Club of Belfast

Going Green

Lesley WinrowThe Club were delighted to welcome to the Club zoom meeting Monday 19 April guest speakers Rotary Club of Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St. Peter President Lesley Winrow and Past President Jane Penson. In a most interesting and informative address President Lesley and PP Jane reported on themselves, their Club and their passion for the environment.

Jane PensonThey revealed that during these pandemic times they have tried to keep members engaged connecting with other local, national and international clubs, running quizzes, booking professional speakers, running a charity 'Whisky tasting tour of Scotland' and they hope to have a picnic lunch at the local cricket club in June. Programme wise, through business connections, they were able to source & distribute PPE at the start of the first lockdown to nursing homes and pharmacies. They have also supported Litter pick ups, End Polio Now crocuses for planting in an Abbeyfield (which they did not have to plant!), medical dogs and have strengthened their relationship with Toastmasters. In addition Past President Jane (pictured right) developed their Club's Going Green agenda through a series of free online events held monthly since September 2020 under the theme "Speak up for our Planet".
